Hurricane Forecast for Atlantic Season Raised by U.S.
Aug. 7 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. government forecasters raised their prediction for the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season to an ``above-normal'' 14 to 18 named storms.

Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Hurricane forecasters from Colorado State University today raised the number of Atlantic storms they expect this year by two to 17, including nine hurricanes, five of them major.

Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall on the Texas coast, packing maximum sustained winds of about 65 miles per hour and likely sparing U.S. oil rigs and refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tropical Storm Churns Over Gulf Toward Texas Oil Port
Aug. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Tropical Storm Edouard churned west today over the Gulf of Mexico and is forecast to approach hurricane strength on a course for Galveston, Texas, the biggest U.S. petroleum port. Parts of Louisiana and Texas were under a hurricane watch.
